Beyond Imagination: UNTOLD 2023 Unveils Its Largest Main Stage Ever and Festival Highlights

Thousands of employees from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (M.A.I.) and private security agents will ensure the safety of all participants at the 8th edition of one of the world’s largest festivals, UNTOLD. Starting from Thursday, August 3rd, the city of Cluj-Napoca will host the 8th edition of the UNTOLD festival, which will bring together over 250 top national and international artists, along with their teams and tens of thousands of fans from Romania and around the world. For the 4 days and 4 nights, organizers and authorities are collaborating to ensure everyone’s safety at Romania’s biggest event.

Thousands of employees from the Ministry of Administration and Internal Affairs, including the General Directorate of Operational Management M.A.I., the Romanian Gendarmerie, the Romanian Police, the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, the National Anti-Drug Agency, the Organized Crime Fighting Brigade, as well as the Local Police personnel, will be present throughout the four-day festival, ensuring that safety measures are respected by all participants at the UNTOLD festival. Additionally, approximately 800 private security agents will contribute to maintaining order and peace within the event perimeter. Two mobile hospitals and three first-aid points will also be set up in the festival area. Şuier will lead the canine patrol unit, specially trained for patrolling, this year as well.

All these safety measures were presented today at a press conference, where representatives from UNTOLD discussed, alongside representatives from local and national authorities, their joint commitment to making the UNTOLD festival area the safest public place in Romania. The UNTOLD festival team and local authorities are joining forces to create a memorable and safe experience for all participants and fans present in Cluj-Napoca.

In addition to increased security measures, some of the highlights of this year’s edition include:

Imagine Dragons will hold their first concert in Romania at Untold 2023.
Salvatore Ganacci, the controversial DJ, will mix from inside a fruit and vegetable stand.
The youngest team in the festival world presents the LARGEST MAIN STAGE IN UNTOLD’S HISTORY.
This year’s production is impressive. The festival covers an area of 235,000 square meters and expects hundreds of thousands of participants over the course of 4 days and 4 nights of magic. Over 15,000 people from more than 20 countries are currently constructing fantasy worlds and decorations at the Cluj Arena stadium and its surroundings.

The main stage will feature over 900 square meters of LED screen, standing 32 meters tall, 110 meters wide, and 30 meters deep. The stage’s weight exceeds 500 tons, and its roof has a 24-meter opening. Over 1250 lighting effects will illuminate the Cluj Arena stadium throughout all the festival days and nights. All the energy used at the main stage comes from renewable sources.

The theme of UNTOLD 2023 is “The Light Phoenix” and will be reflected in the stadium’s decorations and on the main stage. A magical sparkle makes the portal between the real world and the imaginary world invisible, and once this sparkle ignites, everyone is filled with pure joy. All those tiny particles transform into something spectacular: a vortex of lights, unique in their own way, constantly interacting to create something truly special: a PHOENIX in the most vibrant colors.

There will be impressive stages and special music spots, over 50 food and beverage vendors, a fashion corner called Designers’ Nest, dozens of partner activations, magical characters, animators, and dancers parading through the festival, as well as many surprises.

Prohibited items at the festival

The organizers of UNTOLD would like to remind everyone of the following prohibited items at the festival: drugs, alcohol, bottles (including perfume or deodorant bottles), baby bottles, umbrellas, flammable cosmetics, backpacks or bags larger than 29 cm X 21 cm X 12 cm, canned food, fireworks, lasers, sprays, knives, weapons, blunt objects, banners supported by poles, chairs, chains, pyrotechnic articles, food or beverages, animals, professional photo or video equipment, including any type of DSLR camera or cameras with detachable lenses, and any objects that could cause harm.
