It’s “Justin Day” at Electric Castle!
The first rain, the first 35,000 selfies by the panel, the iconic EC letters near the castle, or this year’s new favorite — “by the duck,” the first personal records for dance steps — Electric Castle kicked off with rock, techno, and house rhythms! Today, the festival celebrates “Justin Timberlake Day.” Tens of thousands of fans will get to see their idol live on the festival’s main stage.
“How good does Iris sound!” was the catchphrase of the festival’s opening night. Cristi Minculescu and the band, celebrating 35 years of career, won over a new generation of fans with their show last night at Electric Castle. The emotional vibe of their concert was quickly transformed into pure energy by Yousuke Yukimatsu, the DJ with an incredible life story. After surviving an aggressive cancer, the Japanese artist decided life must be lived to the fullest — a message he powerfully shared with thousands dancing deep into the night to his techno and breakbeat set.
As of Wednesday, Justin Timberlake officially begins his 48-hour residency in Romania. The American superstar has arrived in Cluj with a team of nearly 100 technicians, dancers, and musicians. His show, starting at 10:30 PM, will take fans on a journey through all the hits of his remarkable career. Winner of 10 Grammy Awards, 4 Emmys, 7 AMAs, and an Oscar nominee, Justin Timberlake now also earns the title of “Prince of Pop at the Castle.”
Until the day’s most anticipated performance, Electric Castle delivers a heavy dose of rock on the Hangar Stage with Bad Nerves and Refused — the latter choosing Bonțida as the venue for their final Eastern European concert, wrapping up a career that redefined punk in the 2000s. Known for building their fanbase through viral street performances, Irish band The Scratch makes their Romanian debut today.
Adding a touch of magic to the day is Victor Dorobanțu, the actor who plays Thing, the iconic hand character from The Addams Family. Fans of Wednesday can meet him to hear behind-the-scenes stories from the upcoming Season 2, take photos at the Nevermore Gate, and explore the eerie Cemetery Zone.
More memorable encounters take place at EC Talks, which kick off today featuring well-known radio personalities Liana Stanciu and Cristian Hrubaru, alongside two very talented actresses, Mara Bugarin and Christine Cizmaș.
Over 70 other activities are planned to create a full festival experience throughout Electric Castle. All details, stage schedules, and useful info can be found in the official app and at www.electriccastle.ro.
