UNTOLD – the First Festival in Europe to Offer Free HPV Testing and Breast Ultrasounds

UNTOLD Becomes the First Festival in Europe to Offer Free HPV Testing and Breast Ultrasounds in Partnership with the Renașterea Foundation

The Renașterea Foundation’s Mobile Medical Unit Will Be Located Near the Festival, Offering Free Medical Screenings to UNTOLD Wristband Holders for Four Days

With less than 30 days until the opening of its 11th edition, UNTOLD has announced a new social initiative aimed at improving women’s health. As a large part of the festival’s audience is female, the organizers want to go beyond creating unforgettable experiences by also providing meaningful opportunities for care, prevention, and support within their community.

For the first time in Europe, at a festival of this scale, female UNTOLD attendees will have access to free HPV testing, one of the most important methods of preventing cervical cancer and protecting women’s health.

In partnership with the Renașterea Foundation, the festival’s medical caravan will also provide free breast ultrasounds, along with health education, counseling, and consultations performed by specialized medical professionals.

Through this partnership, the Renașterea Foundation joins the UNTOLD ONE story with an initiative dedicated to health, prevention, and social responsibility. The mobile medical unit will be located near the festival grounds, where female participants can access free medical services in a safe, private, and professional environment provided by specialists from the Oncology Institute of Cluj-Napoca.

Mihaela Geoană, President of the Renașterea Foundation:

“This year, UNTOLD demonstrates that a festival can offer more than music and emotion—it can offer the chance for better health and even save lives. This is the first time cancer prevention becomes part of the heart of a major music festival, making it a truly historic moment for the Renașterea Foundation. Healthcare should be accessible wherever people come together, and festivals are the perfect place to reach young audiences. In Cluj, we will meet tens of thousands of women from Romania and around the world, inviting them to visit our mobile unit, where many may have their first HPV test or breast ultrasound. This year marks the Renașterea Foundation’s 25th anniversary, and this premiere proves that prevention can reach people where it is needed most. Together with courageous partners, we can transform a festival into a space that not only creates memories but also saves lives.”

Andreea Esca, Ambassador of the Renașterea Foundation:

“Over the years I’ve attended many festivals in Romania and abroad, and I’ve always seen the positive energy these events bring. This year, UNTOLD is the first festival where prevention is integrated into the experience itself. A festival becomes a place where people can take a concrete step toward protecting their health. I’m proud that together with the Renașterea Foundation and UNTOLD we can send such an important message to young people: taking care of your health is an act of responsibility. I’ll be there as well, encouraging every woman to come meet our specialists and take advantage of a free HPV test or breast ultrasound. I’d love for this to become something natural—even something people proudly tell their friends: ‘I went to the festival and did something important for my health.’ That’s how we can change attitudes, overcome fear of medical checkups, and understand that early screening is an act of self-care.”

Through this initiative, UNTOLD expands its community-focused activities by encouraging access to preventive healthcare services in an accessible and welcoming environment.

Ioana Chereji, Head of Communication at UNTOLD Universe:

“UNTOLD is about community and caring for the people who are part of our universe. A significant part of our audience is female, and that motivates us to use the UNTOLD platform not only for entertainment but also for initiatives that can make a real difference in people’s lives. Together with the Renașterea Foundation, we want to bring preventive healthcare closer to women by offering free HPV testing and breast ultrasounds in a space where they feel connected, safe, and supported. We believe the magic of UNTOLD also means care, awareness, and taking real steps toward health and well-being.”

The initiative reflects the festival organizers’ commitment to offering participants a unique experience while supporting meaningful community projects and integrating activities that promote health, accessibility, well-being, and social engagement alongside the music.

For more than 20 years, the Renașterea Foundation has carried out national health education and free screening programs. Through its mobile diagnostic units, it has provided more than 40,000 free medical examinations, including mammograms and Pap tests, across dozens of Romanian communities.

One of the UNTOLD ONE headliners, Zara Larsson, has also been actively involved throughout her career in international health awareness and education campaigns, supporting initiatives that promote prevention and access to health information—values reflected in this year’s festival initiative.

Each year, UNTOLD actively supports Romanian NGOs and contributes to campaigns focused on health, environmental protection, and education.

Ranked as the world’s third-best festival for the third consecutive year, UNTOLD continues to be a place of joy, inclusion, and responsibility toward its community.

UNTOLD’s 11th edition will take place August 6–9 in Cluj-Napoca, featuring artists including Sting, Zara Larsson, Lewis Capaldi, Flo Rida, Swae Lee, Martin Garrix, MËSTIZA, Kygo, Steve Aoki, and many more.
