Planet Christmas Opens November 21 in Cluj-Napoca

PLANET CHRISTMAS, THE FAIRY-TALE HOLIDAY-THEMED WORLD FROM THE UNTOLD UNIVERSE, OPENS ON NOVEMBER 21 IN UNION SQUARE, CLUJ-NAPOCA
This year’s edition brings more color, light, generosity, and care for the environment.

UNTOLD Universe kicks off the magic of the winter holidays in Cluj-Napoca with the opening of Planet Christmas, taking place on November 21 at 19:00 in Union Square. We’re in for 41 days of magic, full of surprises for both children and adults—hundreds of thousands of colorful lights, glittering decorations, hundreds of hours of performances and over 80 artistic moments, dozens of gifts, and cherished moments spent with loved ones. The holiday-themed fairs created by UNTOLD Universe under the Planet Christmas umbrella are organized in partnership with the City Hall of Cluj-Napoca. On November 28, the magic of Christmas will also reach the Horia Demian Sports Hall plateau, where the Winter Fair will open.

OFFICIAL OPENING PROGRAM – NOVEMBER 21

The most anticipated moment every year is the lighting of the holiday decorations, which will transform the heart of Cluj-Napoca—Union Square—into a fairytale setting. This year, the organizers wanted to bring even more light, more joy, and more color to the Christmas Fair. The decorations, the Christmas tree, and Santa’s House will be even more dazzling and inviting. In addition, the newest technologies were used to ensure more efficient, sustainable, and responsible energy consumption.

Friday evening schedule:

• 19:00 – Official opening of the Christmas Fair and lighting of the festive decorations

• 19:10 – 19:40 – Paula Rad concert

• 20:15 – 21:15 – Bosquito concert

This year, the organizers prepared a unique moment for the Christmas Fair. Every day, between 19:00 – 19:10, 20:00 – 20:10, and 21:30 – 21:40, there will be a light show on the dome installed in Union Square.

THE FIRST WEEKEND BRINGS FUN FOR ALL AGES IN PLANET CHRISTMAS

Starting Friday, children can take part in creative workshops in Santa’s House. The workshops take place daily between 16:00 and 20:00.

Impressive attractions and fun for all ages in Planet Christmas

Union Square in Cluj-Napoca will become, starting November 21, a true fairytale land, with impressive attractions everywhere you look. The panoramic wheel will offer not only a unique light show in Romania but also a superb view of the fair. For the little ones, the story carousel will become a favorite refuge, while the VR sleigh will carry them on a fantastic adventure along the reindeer trail to Santa’s home in Lapland, all through the magic of virtual reality. Santa’s House will be the place where children can unleash their creativity and curiosity. Santa will visit them and make sure his sleigh is filled with gifts again this year. The organizers have added even more photo corners and photo booths, knowing that the best memories are the ones you keep and look back on years later.

The fun will be complete with the opening of the Winter Fair on November 28 at the Horia Demian Sports Hall plateau, where visitors of all ages will enjoy a generous ice rink with perfect ice.

Planet Christmas will also be a gastronomic universe promoting both traditional delicacies—prepared with dedication according to old recipes—and international dishes. 75 food cabins await food lovers in Planet Christmas. Visitors will find fresh fruits, traditional pies, savory hot dogs, hot churros, roasted chestnuts, and a variety of seasonal sweets—perfect flavors for chilly winter evenings. Gift and artisan cabins will offer ideal inspiration for meaningful presents that carry tradition forward.

The stage in Union Square will host over 80 artistic performances by famous singers, local dance groups, bands, young artists, and choirs. This year’s edition brings to the public Puya, Bosquito, Guess Who, Jurjak, Vlăduța Lupău, Fuego, and Bibi—a diverse lineup designed so every visitor can find music that inspires and delights them.

The 2025 edition of Planet Christmas brings generosity, emotion, and responsibility

Beyond bringing the community together, UNTOLD Universe aims to involve visitors in social responsibility campaigns. Their goal is to spread joy to those who need it most, especially during Christmas. Thus, they created two campaigns—“We Help” and “Caps with Soul”—showing that magic isn’t only about lights and décor but also about real gestures between people.

Through “We Help”, gifts will be collected for 260 underprivileged children from villages in Transylvania, and through “Caps with Soul”, people can donate plastic caps, with the funds obtained from recycling going to a social cause.

The Christmas Fair will close on January 1, but the fun will continue at the Winter Fair, which will welcome visitors—with many attractions—until February 15. Last year, over 1 million visitors from Cluj-Napoca and surrounding areas experienced the magic of the winter holidays in Planet Christmas, and the organizers are confident that this year they will surpass the previous attendance record.
