Untold 2022 Day 1 – Not enough cakes
Over 85,000 participants from all over the world experienced the magic of Untold on the first day of the festival.
“Untold, for me, is in the top 3 festivals in the world!” said Morten, who came to Untold for the first time
“Next year i will ask for 30 cakes because 10 are not enough”, that’s how Steve Aoki ended his live performance in the Untold mainstage.
The magical UNTOLD universe opened its doors yesterday for a new chapter, the seventh in the story of the first day of the festival, with more than 85,000 participants from all over the world.
Cluj-Arena was the venue for some of the premieres prepared by the creators of UNTOLD.
The Danish MORTEN, who scored the strongest new entry in the DJ Mag Top 100, directly at 39th place, electrified the atmosphere in the UNTOLD mainstage with his Future Rave sound.
“I wanted to be here so badly! I saw a drone footage taken by my good friend David Guetta and I was blown away. Now I’m here, part of this amazing story! UNTOLD ranked fifth in the world? Are you sure? It’s in the top three festivals in the world!” said MORTEN.
The DJ set by the Dane, an artist who pioneered a new genre in electronic music, FUTURE RAVE, thrilled tens of thousands of UNTOLD fans. From the remix version of the classic ,,Titanium” to the hits released with his partner David Guetta, ,,Impossible”, ,,Kill Me Slow”, ,,Never Be Alone”, ,,Permanence” or ,,Make It To Heaven”, every moment of MORTEN’s live show was pure energy. The DJ came out to the UNTOLD fans, danced with them and ended his moment on the mainstage by thanking the fans for their support and beautiful energy.
“UNTOLD, next year I’m going to ask for 30 cakes because 10 are not enough!” were Steve Aoki’s words after the traditional “Cake Me!”, one of the most anticipated moments of the US DJ’s set.
Steve Aoki, one of the top 10 biggest DJs in the world according to DJ Mag Top 100, prepared a special set exclusively for UNTOLD fans, including a first performance of his upcoming single, “The Whistle”, which he worked on with Timmy Trumpet.
“I’m extremely fond of this festival, it has helped me enormously in my career. It’s helped me grow as an artist, and for that, thank you!” said Aoki, who also created a Yat, a string of one to five emoji that can be used as a digital username, for the UNTOLD festival: Count Dracula, a wizard, a musical note and an alchemist.
On the UNTOLD festival mainstage, Claptone was enthusiastically received at the festival’s opening ceremony, with many of the DJ’s fans wearing the golden mask, which is associated with the German’s hidden identity. Another first-time appearance for UNTOLD was British trance act Above & Beyond.
“If you saw what we’re seeing from here on stage, you’d know there’s only one word to describe the moment: EPIC,” was the message delivered to fans by members of Above & Beyond.
The most famous Romanian artists arrived at Cluj-Arena, INNA had a live show in which everyone on the mainstage sang and danced with the artist who broke a record of views on YouTube. Irina Rimes, the Osoianu Sisters and David Ciente managed to bring authentic Romanian emotion with a live show that combined elements of Romanian folklore with elements of pop and electronic music.
The UNTOLD experience was completed on the mainstage by Partydul Kiss FM who offered a surprise moment: the reunion after 20 years of the band Gaz pe Foc. The main stage programme ended with Manuel Riva’s show.
TOP ARTISTS ON THE UNTOLD SIDE STAGES
Artists from Galaxy, Alchemy, Daydreaming, Fortune, Time, Tramway and Retro Party gathered tens of thousands of fans on the first day of UNTOLD.
The Alchemy stage was created especially for lovers of rap, trap, breakbeat and dubstep.
Paraziții, Macanache, Șuie Paparude, Mario Glass & Bvcovia included in their live set a first for UNTOLD fans, Groove Hustlaz, French Malaa and Noisia, in DJ Set formula, activated one of the most loved stages of the festival.
UNTOLD offers diversity in musical styles at every edition, and underground techno culture has its own stage at the festival. On the first day, the Galaxy stage featured: DJEFF, Mahony, Raresh and Jamie Jones B2B Loco Dice.
Tonight the UNTOLD mainstage, ranked 5th in the world for Best Electronic Festival according to Viberate, will be opened by Dutchman Chico Rose followed by Dirty Nano, American Gryffin and G-Eazy – two firsts for UNTOLD, Damian & Brothers, Paul Kalkbrenner LIVE, Don Diablo, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Bassjackers.
Also tonight, Andreea Esca & Poison and Andi Moisescu will take to the Time stage for the first time.
