“CHRISTMAS PLANET” – The Holiday-Themed Market by UNTOLD Universe Opens in Unirii Square, Cluj-Napoca, on November 22
Festive Lights Ceremony and Carla’s Dreams Concert Among the Highlights of the Grand Opening
On Friday, November 22, at 7:00 PM, the official opening of “Christmas Planet”, the holiday-themed market organized by UNTOLD Universe, will take place in Unirii Square, Cluj-Napoca. This will also be the first Christmas market to open in Cluj-Napoca. Thousands of visitors are expected to join the festive lights ceremony in Unirii Square and immerse themselves in the Christmas magic of this colorful, enchanting, and glittering wonderland filled with fantastic characters.
Following the lights ceremony, the opening event will feature performances by Carla’s Dreams, Andreea Șilochi, and Kids Sing Academy. The Christmas Market in Unirii Square will remain open until January 1, 2025. Additionally, the Winter Fair at the “Horia Demian” Sports Hall Plateau, also under the UNTOLD Universe umbrella, will open on December 1.
Last year, Cluj-Napoca’s Christmas markets attracted 900,000 visitors from Romania and beyond. This year, organizers expect over 1 million visitors to enjoy the holiday magic in Cluj’s Christmas markets.
Opening Ceremony Program
The ceremony will mark the start of the winter holiday season in Unirii Square, Cluj-Napoca. The highly anticipated lighting of thousands of festive lights that illuminate the market and every corner of the square is an emotional highlight for the thousands of visitors who gather each year in the city center.
The program on November 22 includes:
- 7:00 PM – Festive Lights Ceremony
- 7:15 PM – Kids Sing Academy Christmas Carols
- 7:30 PM – Carla’s Dreams Concert
- 8:30 PM – Andreea Șilochi Concert

For the second consecutive year, the two Christmas markets organized by UNTOLD Universe in Cluj-Napoca—the one in Unirii Square and the Winter Fair at “Horia Demian” Sports Hall—fall under the concept of “Christmas Planet.” This transforms these two iconic locations into enchanting fairytale lands filled with charm and fantastic, playful characters present throughout the markets.
“Christmas Planet” will bring many surprises to Unirii Square, for both children and adults, including several premieres in Romania.
Unique and Spectacular Attractions for High-Flying Experiences
One of the most impressive attractions this year is a panoramic wheel with a light show unlike anything seen before in Romania, offering a magical view of the market. For children, the storybook carousel will become a favorite retreat, while the VR sleigh ride will transport visitors on a magical adventure with Santa’s reindeer to his home in Lapland—all through virtual reality magic.
Giant Toys and Exciting Challenges
Visitors with a competitive spirit can test their skills at special game stands featuring giant Christmas-themed plush toys as rewards. It’s a great way to have fun and take home a memorable gift.
Local Delicacies and Fireside Stories
This year, organizers have arranged the food and gift huts in a circle, making it easy for visitors to explore the offerings of local producers, from handcrafted gifts to delicious food and drinks. Guests can enjoy mulled wine or a delicious meal near specially arranged fireside areas, reminiscent of cozy childhood storytelling moments.
Santa Claus and His Elves on Christmas Planet
The House of Santa Claus returns this year and will also host Saint Nicholas. Children can take photos with Santa, help him in creative workshops, and craft lanterns, wreaths, or ornaments from sustainable materials. Adding to the joy, the market will feature characters from Christmas Planet: Crăciunir, Frim, Ona, Mira, and Rexy, spreading smiles and cheer.
Carols and Concerts by Beloved Artists
This year’s artistic lineup blends popular bands and renowned performers famous for their Christmas songs and carols. Artists like Emeric Imre, Ducu Bertzi, Narcisa Suciu, Fuego, MA RA MU, Score Band, Be Right Band, Semnal M, Dalma, and many others will bring the spirit of the holidays to life on stage.
